Residents also feel that previous stages have left our roads in an unsafe condition. Specifically:

  • Roads feel too narrow for two vehicles to pass safely
  • Large vehicles such as lorries create genuinely dangerous situations on roads that residents feel have been made unnecessarily narrow
  • Sightlines for drivers have worsened, making it harder to check safely for oncoming traffic
  • Cycle lanes introduced in previous stages feel disconnected and residents feel they are virtually unused — meaning road capacity has been reduced without delivering the active travel benefits that were promised
  1. Involve us before any decisions are made — not after. Residents must be genuinely consulted while plans can still be changed
  2. Show us the Equality Impact Assessment for Stage 3 — and confirm that one was carried out for previous stages
  3. Answer our concerns in writing — every concern raised by residents must receive a written response
  4. Demonstrate what previous stages were supposed to deliver — and provide evidence of whether those targets have been met and those benefits realised before committing further public money to Stage 3
