Our roads. Our voice.
The council is planning changes to Broom Road and Wickersley Road. We’re the residents making sure they actually listen.
Consulted? Or just notified?
Rotherham Council is consulting on the next phase of changes. But so far, it feels less like a real conversation and more like a box being ticked.
A leaflet through the door isn’t consultation. A survey with no options to genuinely shape the plans isn’t either.
The law says we should be properly involved before decisions are made — not asked to nod along after the fact. We want a genuine say in shaping our own streets.
We are Our Roads Our Voice
A group of local residents from Broom Road, Wickersley Road, and the streets around them.
We come together for one reason: to make sure the people who live on these streets are the people who help shape them.
Our voice. Our choice. A community honestly heard, and genuinely involved in designing the future of our roads.
What we’re not:
- Not against safer streets
- Not against cycling
- Not political
What we’re For:
- An honest say in what happens here
- Proper co-design — residents at the table, not at the receiving end
- A future for our roads and community that we’ve helped build
Why Now Matters!
The window won’t stay open.
The plans aren’t final yet. Right now, our voice can still shape what happens. Once decisions are signed off, that window closes.
Numbers change everything.
A handful of residents can be brushed aside. A community standing together cannot. The more of us who join, the harder we are to ignore.
Don’t let our streets be the next.
We’ve seen what happens when residents aren’t properly involved. Let’s not let that be the story of Broom Road and Wickersley Road.
What we want to see happen
We’re not asking for the world. We’re asking for what every community deserves: a genuine say in the streets we live on.
By the end of 2026, residents of Broom Road, Wickersley Road and the surrounding streets have been genuinely involved in shaping the changes to our roads — with every concern answered, every voice heard, and the final outcome one our community has helped build.
Specifically:
- A real seat at the table — not a finished plan handed to us
- Every concern answered in writing — not lost in a survey
- Resident alternatives properly considered — not dismissed
- A community voice that lasts — beyond this one issue
We’re not asking for the impossible. We’re asking for what’s right.

FAQs
No. We support both. Safer streets, better cycling, cleaner air — these are good things. What we’re against is decisions being made about our roads without the people who live on them having a genuine say. We want the goals and a good plan to get there.
No. We’re residents! No party affiliation, no political agenda. The only thing that unites us is where we live and a belief that our community deserves to be heard.
As much or as little as you want. Some members simply want to be kept informed. Others sign petitions or share updates. Some attend meetings or speak to councillors. A smaller team helps run the group. You choose your level — and you can change it any time.
Nothing — except the residents themselves. The more of us who join, the more clearly we represent the community. We don’t claim to speak for anyone who hasn’t asked us to. That’s why your sign-up matters: every member adds weight to the voice.
No. Your contact details stay with us and are used only to keep you informed about the campaign. We never share, sell, or pass on member information to anyone — including the council.
